2013 Spring Season Anime Preview

Keeping up with this preview task is harder than I thought. I know I totally skipped the winter season, but I don't think I missed much, it was a weak lineup, one of the weakest I've seen in years. Anyways, here is the spring preview, it's an improvement over the previous one, but it's by no means spectacular. I think there is pretty much a three way split between Sci-Fi, school comedy and sequels, with a heavier emphasis on the latter two. There is nothing I would bank on with confidence as having the potential to be the best series of the season. I'm still experimenting with formatting, so things may look off here and there, bear with me.
Also, keep in mind I don't preview OVAs and movies. I think the information is quite easy to find if you do some research. Enjoy!

Karneval

Studio: Manglobe
Genre: Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Director: Eiji Suganuma
Series Composition: Touko Machida
Synopsis:
"Nai searches for someone important to him, with only an abandoned bracelet as a clue. Gareki steals and pick-pockets to get by from day to day. The two meet in a strange mansion where they are set-up, and soon become wanted criminals by military security operatives. When Nai and Gareki find themselves desperate in a hopeless predicament, they encounter none other than the country's most powerful defense organization, "Circus". The Circus is a Defense organization that works for the government. They perform raids to capture criminals and solve crimes that the Security force otherwise cannot handle. After their raids, they put on shows as an apology for scaring the citizens. Their group consists of the strongest, most capable fighters that use a special type of bracelet, known as Circus I.D., to fight."

Comment:
Well, this is pretty standard stuff. We've got a secret crime fighting organization run by a group of bishonen/bishoujo who possess super power channeled through a magical bracelet. The only thing that caught my attention is "After their raids, they put on shows as an apology for scaring the citizens." Something as showy as circus performance is juxtaposed with the behind the stage crime fighting work, I would say that's a fairly promising idea, not sure if it's enough to keep the show interesting for the duration of at least one cour. 10 volumes (60 chapters) of the manga have been released to date and it's still ongoing, so I suppose they have enough material to pull off two cours. I scanned the first couple of chapters of the manga and so far, it's not bad, nothing worth of praise, but it's not really offensive in any way, which is a good sign. If anything, it's action packed from the get go and those of us who enjoy a good fight (or Shonen in general, oh wait...nevermind, it's listed as Shoujo apparently, *facepam*) should probably give this one a try. Though the main character is innocent to a fault and that doesn't sit well with me. The premise is anything but original, how well it will turn out will depend on the execution and the quality of the narrative as it unravels. The studio is Manglobe who brought us Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy in its days of glory, and whose input has been quite pitiful in recent years. They are not the most competent studio, but they were obviously capable of doing good works. I'm still waiting for the day Manglobe redeems itself. Their most recent anime is a spinoff of Zettai Karen Children, an obscure sci-fi show no one knows about, and Hayate the Combat Butler! Can't Take My Eyes Off You. So yeah, the record isn't particularly strong, but hey you never know.

Interest Level: Medium ~ High

Red Data Girl

[Manga]
Studio: P.A Works
Genre: Fantasy
Director: Toshiya Shinohara
Series Composition: Michiko Yokote
Synopsis:
"Izumiko Suzuhara is a 15-year old girl who has been raised at Tamakura Shrine, part of the Kumano Shrines World Heritage Site. She destroys any electrical device that she comes into contact with. Despite being shy, she wants to try living in the city. Her guardian Yukimasa Sagara recommends that she enrol at Hōjō High School in Tokyo, accompanied by his son and Izumiko's childhood friend Miyuki Sagara. While in Tokyo, an entity named "Himegami" appears. Izumiko learns that she is a yorishiro, a vessel for a shinto spirit known as a kami, while Miyuki learns that he is a yamabushi, a warrior tasked with protecting her."

Comment:
I'm actually not sure what to make of the summary and a trailer that reveals next to nothing. But based on past record, novel adaptions tend to be stronger than LN ones, Shin Sekai Yori from the fall season is an excellent example. Again, it all comes down to where the author intends to go with the narrative, it could either be incredibly bland or something worth well. It's labeled as "fantasy", but I can't help but think it may be also coming of age story considering the age of the heroine and the circumstances she finds herself in. I'm on the fence for this one, there are just so many things that could go wrong, especially with the "save the damsel in distress" idea in tow. That being said, we have one of the main script writers for Cowboy Bebop on board for series composition and suddenly my hope has been boosted. She also did the series composition for Princess Tutu and xxxHolic. Yeah, I know it's a bit silly to make a judgment call based on something she's done years ago, but experience matters and so far, she certainly doesn't fall short in that department. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. And besides, it's P.A Works, which means it's going to be a visual feast to say the least.

Interest Level: Medium

Yuyushiki

[Manga]
Studio: Kinema Citrus
Genre: SoL, Comedy, School
Director: Kaori
Series Composition: Natsuko Takahashi
Synopsis:
"The manga follows the school life of three girls in the data processing club—Yuzuko, Yukari, and Yui."

Comment:
The vague premise doesn't stop it from being painfully banal. And my eyes, they burn from moe-bait. I will not judge, I will not judge, I will not......oh to hell with it. Do we seriously need more of this? Kinema Citrus is no BONES, unfortunately, regardless of how many people wish to place their faith in the connection. The studio seems to be content with downgrading themselves by dabbling in this kind of project. And their last work? Let's face it, Code:Breaker was a bad adaption. Not that it was an inspiring manga in the first place despite its overwhelming popularity, but the adaption could have been so much better. Also, I don't think it's a coincidence that every character's name starts with "Yu", that's about the only interesting thing here, which really isn't all that interesting. Skipped.

Interest Level: Very Low

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation

[Game]
Studio: Bridge
Genre: N/A
Director: Seiji Kishi
Series Composition: Makoto Uezu
Synopsis: (taken from Wiki entry for the game)
"The setting of Devil Survivor 2 spans the whole country of Japan. It tells the story of Japanese high school students who received an email from a website foretelling deaths. Mysterious creatures invade the country, and the students enter a pact, enabling them to summon demons. The plot may unfold differently depending on the player's actions."

Comment:
Well, this is more like my kind of show, even if it could turn out to be fairly generic. Given the nature of the source material, I imagine the actual anime would probably deviate quite a bit in terms of narrative and characterization. I'm not sure how much new ground it can break with a premise like that, but I think it has the potential to be somewhat thrilling. Seiji Kishi is steering the ship, a competent director who has previously directed Angel Beats!, Persona 4: The Animation, and Humanity Has Declined. The script writer on the other hand has a mediocre track record with a fair number of distasteful shows, nothing too impressive there. Adding to the uncertainty factor, the studio handling the animation is a total newbie to the field, with their only other production work being Mitsudomoe, which doesn't say much about their actual ability. Though that could be argued, for one thing, they definitely made a statement with that damn impressive trailer. Well, bring it on!

Interest Level: High

Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince

[Manga]
Studio: Dogakobo/Orange
Genre: Action, Mecha, Sci-fi
Director: Keitaro Motonaga
Series Composition: Reiko Yoshida
Synopsis:
"In the latter half of 21st century, humans leave the Earth and begin to live in space. In order to adapt to the environment in space and deal with the hostile aliens in Jupiter, genetically engineered children called "Princes" are artificially raised and trained to be pilots of armed robots "AHSMB (Advanced High Standard Multipurpose Battle Device). This is a story about one of the teenage "Princes", Hitachi O Izuru, who studies in an academic city Grandzehle."

Comment:
The dilemma of coming up with a comment for most mech shows: there is little to comment on because they are like carbon copies of each other. I'm not an avid fan of the genre – despite what my MAL graph shows – but I do get excited on those rare occasions when a mech show does manage to rise above the play field (Code Geass for example). If you like mech and angsty stories, then the chances are you will......Oh wait, it's a comedy?! Now, this is also pretty rare. The trailer is kind of goofy and upbeat, at least I think that's the impression it's trying to leave. Well, I guess that tips the scale and makes things less predictable. But whatever, either way I'm not too interested, moving on.

Interest Level: Low

Kakumeiki Valvrave

[Original]
Studio: Sunrise
Genre: Mecha, Sci-Fi
Director: Kou Matsuo
Series Composition: Ichiro Okouchi
Synopsis:
"The story is set in an era when 70% of the human race lives in space due to the development of space cities. Between two major powers — the Dorushia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS) — there is a small neutral nation called Jiōru that has prospered economically. The protagonist Haruto, a high school student who lives in Jiōru, encounters the mysterious "forbidden" humanoid weapon Valvrave when the Dorushia army invades."

Comment:
Doesn't THAT sound suspiciously like Code Geass. But hey look, it's the same writer! The brilliant Ichiro Okouchi is back. He has worked on three of my favorite mech shows, C.G, Eureka Seven and RahXephon, and that's enough reason to pique my interest. He's probably the biggest deciding factor here, if all goes well, we might just have another series that might rival C.G. It's been so long since Sunrise last produced a worthwhile mech show even though they've been milking the Gundam franchise at every opportunity they get. The director has previously steered the ship for Natsuyuki Rendezvous and Rozen Maiden, both I enjoyed, so that only adds to my anticipation. Judging from the trailer, the animation relies heavily on CG, not something I'm entirely comfortable with. In fact, I think that's probably the only drawback right now with everything else working in favor of the show.

Interest Level: High

Shingeki no Kyojin

[Manga]
Studio: Wit/Production I.G
Genre: Action, Drama, Fantasy
Director: Tetsuro Araki
Series Composition: Yasuko Kobayashi
Synopsis:
"Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants.
Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Elen and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Elen vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind."

Comment:
This is another one of my most anticipated show of the season. There is just something fascinating about watching vulnerable measly humans getting crushed by giants 100 times their size. Nah, I'm not that sadistic. But you have to admit it's something new, the difference in power is so large that you can't help but wonder what can our heroes do. Usually you get demons, power users, vampires and an assortment of otherworldly creatures, but you don't get giants who resemble humans in every physical trait. But also because the enemy is so invasive and so ostentatious with their destructive behaviors, you have to worry about how far the story can go, it's very much trapped in a box, similar to how the citizens of the story are trapped within the wall. But we will see, I think it has the potential to exceed my expectations. We have the director of Death Note leading the project, and the script writer has previously worked on Claymore, Death Note and Casshern Sins. Overall, the chances are good. Oh, and that animation in the trailer is glorious beyond words, some of the best action sequences I've seen in a long while. Just a single minute is enough to send chills down my spine. If anything else fails, trust the animation to prevail.

Interest Level: Very High

Hataraku Maou-Sama!

[Manga]
Studio: White Fox
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Director: Naoto Hosoda
Series Composition: Masahiro Yokotani
Synopsis:
"In another dimension the Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. As "conquering the world" are the only skills the Devil King possesses - and are obviously unnecessary in his new situation - he must work as a freeter to pay for his living expenses."

Comment:
Nvm....It doesn't hurt to pick this one up I guess. I foresee this show will probably be swarmed with troupes. Well, it could still be saved by a clever narrative, creative editing and a cast of dynamic character, but I sincerely doubt it will happen basing my impression off the trailer. I find myself to be very harsh with comedies in general, but you can't really blame me for being sceptical when 90% of this genre is so horribly executed that I usually have to stop watching by the second episode to refrain from complaining. I understand, some people enjoy this stuff, I'm just not one of them. Again, the trailer is pretty mild and the absence of fanservice (for now) is rather comforting, I think I might pick it up for good measure, just in case it decides to prove me wrong by being the most exciting thing to ever grace the animesphere.

Interest Level: Low ~ Medium

Suisei no Gargantia

[Original]
Studio: Production I.G
Genre: Adventure, Sci-fi, Mecha
Director: Kazuya Murata
Series Composition: Gen Urobuchi
Synopsis:
"The story begins in the distant future in the far reaches of the galaxy. The Human Galactic Alliance has been constantly fighting for its survival against a grotesque race of beings called "Hidiaazu." During an intense battle, the young lieutenant Redo and his humanoid mobile weapon Chamber are swallowed up into a distortion of time and space. Waking from his artificially induced hibernation, Redo realizes that he has arrived on Earth, the planet on the lost frontier. On this planet that was completely flooded by the seas, people live in fleets of giant ships, salvaging relics from the seas' depths in order to survive. Redo arrives on one of the fleets called Gargantia. With no knowledge of the planet's history or culture, he is forced to live alongside Amy, a 15-year-old girl who serves as a messenger aboard the Gargantia fleet. To Redo, who has lived a life where he knows nothing but fighting, these days of peace continue to surprise him."

Comment:
What do we have here? The good old I.G and the good old Urobuchi. Of course, Urobuchi is bound to experiment with mecha at some point, it just came sooner than I expected. They must had a good time collaborating on Psycho-Pass. I'm not complaining, Psycho-Pass is a good show (that I still need to catch up on) and the premise of this series is as intriguing as any other Urobuchi's work. Originality is something he doesn't lack. Given what we usually get, it's an interesting shift in perspective with the main character experiencing life on earth as an outsider. Even without further elaboration, it already sounds like a promising story with depth and substance. But let me guess, the character dies in the end after some moral and psychological struggle? Well, if we are talking about Urobuchi and his grim world view, I doubt the story is anything near cheerful. I'm not concerned about the intellectual quality of the plot, he has proven himself to be a writer capable of entertaining complex concepts, my hope is that he makes some attempt to connect with the audience on an emotional level this time. Though that's rather subjective, probably not everyone share the same view as I do. As usual, the I.G standard is evident in the animation of the trailer, there is only a few studio that can match I.G's consistency when it comes to visuals. I have to say, the studio is pretty busy these days with more than two shows on their plate every season, and by the looks of it, Gargantia is probably going to be another 2-cour series. I guess that means they are doing incredibly well with sales. Anyways, let's wait for it!

Photo Kano

[Game]
Studio: Madhouse
Genre: Romance, School
Director: Akitoshi Yokoyama
Series Composition: Akitoshi Yokoyama
Synopsis:
"Kazuya Maeda is a second-year high school student who takes pictures of girls with his camera. The game focuses on his romantic encounters with various girls at his school."

Comment:
Speaking of sales, we got a studio here that clearly isn't doing so well if they have to resort to producing anime that's based on a friggin dating sim game. And the premise, it's not creepy at all, of course having a stalker with a camera around is the next most romantic thing and girls just dig that. ^$*@^*$&@. Seriously Madhouse? Okay, I'm calm, I'm very calm, you will not hear profanity from me. I'm going to pretend the decision makers at Madhouse didn't get clocked in the head and will go watch Hunter x Hunter and Chihayafuru, and think happy thoughts.

Interest Level: Very Low

Aku no Hana

[Manga]
Studio: Zexcs
Genre: Drama, Romance, School, Psychological
Director: Hiroshi Nagahama
Series Composition: Aki Itami
Synopsis:
"Kasuga Takao is a boy who loves reading books, particularly Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal. A girl at his school, Saeki Nanako, is his muse and his Venus, and he admires her from a distance. One day, he forgets his copy of Les Fleurs du Mal in the classroom and runs back alone to pick it up. In the classroom, he finds not only his book, but Saeki's gym uniform. On a mad impulse, he steals it.Now everyone knows "some pervert" stole Saeki's uniform, and Kasuga is dying with shame and guilt. Furthermore, the weird, creepy, and friendless girl of the class, Nakamura, saw him take the uniform. Instead of revealing it was him, she recognizes his kindred deviant spirit and uses her knowledge to take control of his life. Will it be possible for Kasuga to get closer to Saeki, despite Nakamura's meddling and his dark secret? What exactly does Nakamura intend to do with him?"

Comment:
It's a pretty weird premise and I'm at a loss what to think. The team that headed Mushi-shi is handling the project, and I daresay that's an incentive to give it a try. I have a feeling this is going to be that wacky anime of the season, kind of like how Mysterious Girlfriend X was in the 2012 spring lineup. I'm not good with downright bizzarre shows that operate completely outside of logic, I think there is a fine line between artistic and weird. Something like Tatami Galaxy in my opinion is eccentric, even paranoid, but also inspiring in a perverse kind of way, but MGX falls in my latitude of rejection, it's just too much for my brain to process. I don't think I possess the intellectual depth to parse out all the social satires. This show sort of exudes a similar vibe, so I'm not entirely sure whether I'll stick with it. For now, the chances are slim.

Interest Level: Low ~ Medium

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru.

[LN]
Studio: Brains Base
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Director: Ai Yoshimura
Series Composition: Shôtarô Suga
Synopsis:
"Hikigaya Hachiman is a high school boy with twisted character. He prefers to go against the trend and refuses to make friends with anybody. In order to get Hachiman back the right track, his school teacher Hiratsuka Shizuka forces him to enter 'Public Service Club'. There he meets other problematic students."

Comment:
First of all, that's a long name. Second of all, this is another one of those shows that could swing either way depending on the directing. We have too many examples of failed story that attempt to depict teenage dilemmas but eventually gets wrapped in its own pretentiousness to really get anywhere. We'll have to trust the studio's judgment, they have earned themselves enough credit to deserve that much. Though I can't say the same about Amnesia, it falls flat even for an Otome source material. But Brains Base is still Brains Base, one mediocre series is not enough to tarnish their reputation. Also, the script is headed by someone who boast a stellar career record marked by some great titles – Eden of the East, Ghost in the Shell, FMA-Brotherhood, Eureka Seven, Moribito and Darker than Black. The interesting thing is the guy has no experience what's so ever with school comedy, I'm curious to how he'll handle his new role.

Interest Level: Medium

Aiura

[Manga]
Studio: N/A
Genre: Comedy, School, Slice of Life
Director: N/A
Series Composition: N/A
Synopsis:
"The story centers around Amaya, Iwasawa, and Uehara—three "annoying, spirited high school girls with zero motivation"—and their classmates. Their daily life is "what happens when there is nothing happening."

Comment:
"le Sigh"....This is not something I normally go for, so any comment at this point where so little information has been released would probably be ill informed and biased. The premise is so dull that it's interesting. So exactly WHAT happens when there is nothing happening. Stay tuned.

Interest Level: Low

                            Namiuchigiwa no Muromi San

[Manga]
Studio: Tatsunoko Production
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life
Director: Tatsuya Yoshihara
Series Composition:  Kazuyuki Fudeyasu
Synopsis:
"Mukoujima Takurou is a lonely teenager who spends his time fishing at the pier and, to his incredible surprise, fishes up Muromi, a mermaid. Muromi first off doesn't realize she's a mermaid until she meets Takurou. Not only that, she is incredibly dense and crazy and has a drinking problem to top it off. Now every time Takurou goes fishing, Muromi appears and makes life interesting for him."

Comment:
It took me three tries to type out the title. "Mukoujima Takurou is a lonely teenager....." Okay, moving on. No, seriously I don't think it could've sounded more original even if it tried. But I'll admit, an obtuse mermaid with a drinking problem is kind of cute, if not being cute for the sake of being cute. Moe moe moe, let's shower the world with moe-nesss~~~ (no, let's not)

Interest Level: Low

Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko

[LN]
Studio: J.C Staff
Genre: Comedy, Romance, School
Director: Youhei Suzuki
Series Composition: Michiko Itou
Synopsis:
Youto Yokodera is always thinking about his carnal desires, but no one acknowledges him as a pervert. He learns about a cat statue that supposedly grants wishes. The boy goes to pray that he will be able to express his lustful thoughts whenever and wherever he wants. At the statue, Youto encounters Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi, a girl from his high school with her own wish — that she would not display her real intentions so readily."

Comment:
ugh......J.C Staff....the studio with the highest probability of picking up garbage shows. Not always, but often enough for me to regard it as a mediocre studio with little ambition, unless you count money hogging as one. I have nothing else to say. If you like this kind of comedy, well....good for you.

Interest Level: Very Low

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge

[Manga]
Studio: Gokumi
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Romance
Director: Yuji Yamaguchi
Series Composition: Tatsuhiko Urahata
Synopsis:
"Haimura Kiri is a seemingly ordinary boy with one slight problem: he is obsessed with cutting other people's hair. One day he meets Mushiyanokouji Iwai, the "Hair Queen" who cannot cut her hair because of an inherited curse. Kiri finds out that his scissor, "Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge" is the only thing that can cut them. But little did he know that their meeting sparked the start of an old murder game to kill the "Hair Queen" using the cursed killing tools, the "Killing Goods." Can Kiri protect Iwai from the Killing Goods Owners? Let the game begin! "

Comment:
Battle Royale + Rapunzel = Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge. We have yet another save the damsel in distress story in the making, and my moe antenna is buzzing. Apparently having long hair also makes you a target in the bizzarre world of anime. It sure is a dangerous place. With the characters sketched out in such concret lines, the potential of this anime is already capped off before it even began, the best it could do is save itself from becoming an utter disaster. But it might end up being one of the better mediocre series this season.

Interest Level: Low

Arata Kangatari

[Manga]
Studio: Satelight
Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Shonen
Series Composition: Mayori Sekijima
Synopsis:
"Every 30 years, a new princess is chosen from the Hime family to serve the Hayagami. The time has come again, but over these past years, records state not a single female has been born, save for one, the 15-year-old Arata. The only problem is, Arata is actually a male! Forced to disguise himself and take the place of the princess candidate until a formal one can be found, he attends the festival only to witness the current princess, Kokuri-hime, murdered, and his own life is forfeit as well, by the hands of the princess' personal guard, the 12 Shinshou. As he runs for his life, Kannagi of the 12 convinces everyone that Arata is the one who has murdered the princess instead, and now everyone in the Imperial Court is after his head!"

Comment:
This is definitely one of the more exciting premises in the lineup. A gender-bender plot intertwined with royal conspiracy can't go wrong. Well, it has its limits but it can't go too wrong, I hope. With the right directing and likable characters, we might have a decent adventure story. It's also labeled as Shonen, so we can expect some ass kicking, limb flying and possibly pre-battle cursing. I don't expect this to turn into a masterpiece of any kind, just stay on course and it should be at least somewhat memorable.

Interest Level: Medium

Mushibugyo

[Manga]
Studio: N/A
Genre: Action, Shonen, Supernatural
Director: N/A
Series Composition: N/A
Synopsis:
"The action story is set in Edo-era Tokyo in the early 1700s. The eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune ordered boxes to be installed so commoners can submit their thoughts. After hearing their voices, the shogun creates a new magistrate unit — Mushibugyō — to protect the people in the heart of the city. Each member is a specialist with unique fighting skills."

Comment:
I have a feeling the characters are going to be cardboard cutouts, but I don't think it's show that's meant to be taken seriously. Watch it, have a laugh while you are at it, and let it go. There is probably not going to be a whole lot of food for thought. We still need more information, the studio for instance. Apparently TOHO and Production I.G produced the promotion video, but I seriously doubt I.G is responsible for the actual TV series considering how much they are already doing.

Interest Level: Medium

Date A Live

[LN]
Studio: AIC Plus+
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Sci-fi
Director: Keitaro Motonaga
Series Composition:  Hideki Shirane
Synopsis:
"Itsuka Shido is a high school boy. On the last day of the spring holidays, an explosion destroys the town and a girl in armor appears in front of him. Shido's sister-in-law, Kotori, tells him that the girl is called "Special Disasterous Designated Creature: Spirit", which causes a timespace quake. Kotori disclosed that she is the commander of the anti-spirit organization Ratatosk and orders him to go out on a date with the spirit girl. Kotori says, "I don't ask you to beat the spirit. Just let her fall in love with you and save the world."

Comment:
I think the cheese barrel just exploded. "Just let her fall in love with you and save the world." Awww, yeshhh, love will save the day once again! It's a tearjerking story that has me hugging myself mentally, with much agony. I think I might have given it a try if they didn't put the last line in the synopsis, which is dreadful beyond words. I sincerely believe love does save the world, but I'd prefer watching a more subtle execution. We seem to have a lot of romantic comedies this season bent on being as preposterous as possible. And look at that lovely poster, we have that one happy looking puppy-eyed guy surrounded by a harem of deadly moe-baits. He's obviously living every guy's dream. Of course I'm not judging. When was the last time we had an anime with one happy looking puppy-eyed guy surrounded by a harem of deadly moe-baits turn out to be surprisingly good? Weird, I can't recall.

Interest Level: Low

Sequels

I'm not going to talk about each one. For heaven's sakes, if you've seen the previous season, then you'll know what to expect, if you haven't then I have no idea why you are interested in watching a sequel. Anyways, we have a truck load of sequels in the lineup, none really interests me to be honest.

Gundam Seed Destiny HD Remaster
Girl and Panzer (continues from the previous season)
Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live
Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (TV 2)
Hayate No Gotoku! Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Bride
Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 2000%
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S
Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W

Well, that's about it! I'll keep this post updated as new PVs come out.  =)
